INVIDIA WINES
THE ONLY AUSTRALIAN WHOLESALER OF WORLDCLASS & AWARD WINNING SWISS WINES
About Us
My passion for Swiss wine was born later in life.
Having moved out of home when I was 18, I left Switzerland just shy of my 24th birthday before having the opportunity to really discover and appreciate all of what was being grown around me back home. I found my way to Australia and planted my roots here in Brisbane in 2001.
During the last few years, I’ve travelled back to Switzerland with my wife and two children, re-familiarising myself with friends, family and all that Switzerland has to offer. I wasn’t expecting to be introduced to the region’s exceptional wine culture, one that we have now brought back with us and really savoured.
I asked Dr. José Vouillamoz (world famous grape geneticist, ampeologist, wine writer and lecturer I met him in Zurich during a grand tasting event showcasing over 130 Swiss winemakers), how he would describe Swiss wines to the an audience that has never known they existed... here is what he had to say:
"Swiss wine does not exist! Yet I love drinking it! I say that Swiss wine does not exist because Switzerland is composed of six official wine regions, each with its own climate and a mosaic of terroirs, cultivating a whopping total of 320 grape varieties on a mere 14 485 hectares. Diversity is the key word, which makes it difficult to define what Swiss wine is. On top of it, Swiss wine is rare by nature—most of it is enjoyed locally, and only a tiny fraction ever reaches international markets. Yet behind this scarcity lies remarkable richness: ancient indigenous varieties like Chasselas in Vaud, Completer in Graubünden and Petite Arvine in Valais, breathtaking terraced vineyards carved into mountainsides, and a crystalline freshness that is typical for the purity of Alpine wines.
Some say that Swiss wines are expensive. I’d rather say that Switzerland makes the most expensive cheap wines, and the cheapest expensive wines! Indeed, entry level wines may have a rather high price tag on the international market, but the high-end wines are much cheaper than most of their counterparts in world famous regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy or Barossa.
Australian wine lovers should take any opportunity to discover the unique heritage of Swiss wines that survived thanks to the quiet passion of Swiss vintners."
Now it is time to share this untapped and unknown treasure with the place I now call home, Australia.
Here below you will find wines that we are currently importing into Australia, and which are available to local and interstate retailers. Whether you run a restaurant, a wine bar or are a boutique Wine Cellar, this is the opportunity to add great and unique wines not currently available anywhere else in this country and offer a true alpine adventure to your customers. * Next shipment due to arrive in Australia around end April 2026.

What the Experts Say
"Had the pleasure of tasting with Dan and i was impressed with both the variety of flavours - unlike anything currently available in Australia - and with the overall quality of the wines. The monovarietal biodiversity on the table was broader than i expected. Some even brought me back to my Master of Wine exam (there was a Swiss a Pinot Noir amongst the wines we had to identify during one of our blind tasting exam) and i found the tasting a Swiss Pinot Noir of high quality for the first time after all these years a nostalgic but very pleasant experience".

"In a market where true discoveries are increasingly rare, Invidia Wines stands out as a passionate curator of distinction and sustainability. Swiss wines are notoriously rare in Australia, and it is a real treat to have access to such unique bottles that showcase the incredible quality and craftsmanship of Swiss artisanal winemakers. From precise, mineral-driven whites to elegant, complex reds, Dan's selection demonstrates the extraordinary quality and diversity that Swiss viticulture has to offer. Invidia Wines commitment to introducing Australian collectors and connoisseurs to these under-appreciated treasures is both admirable and inspiring.
